Mathruin joined Palace in August 2023, after initially impressing as 'Trialist B.'
The winger joined Palace after impressing as a Trialist in appearances off the bench for the Under-21s against Manchester United – a match in which he scored – and Reading.
Mathurin started his footballing journey at Chelsea’s Academy at the age of nine, before making the switch to north London to join Tottenham Hotspur Under-13s.
The winger progressed through the ranks to feature up to U18 Premier League level, playing four times in last season’s UEFA Youth League. He also featured for the Tottenham first-team during their mid-season friendly against Peterborough United.
After putting pen-to-paper on his deal, Mathurin said: “This is a great opportunity at Crystal Palace. I’m happy to be here and I can't wait to progress.”
Academy Director Gary Issott added: “After a successful trial period, we are pleased to offer Roshaun the opportunity to join our Under-21s group.
“Supporters may have seen his impact in our home win over Manchester United U21s, where he came off the bench to put in an exciting attacking performance for the team, and we hope that success will continue.”
In his first start for Palace, Mathurin scored a brace in a 6-2 win away at Middlesbrough U21s in September 2023. He also recorded his first assist in this Premier League Cup group opener.
His fifth goal of the 23/24 campaign came in a 3-0 win against West Bromwich Albion U21s in October 2023.
By March 2024, he was directly involved in 20 goals for the U21s, with nine goals to his name and 11 assists.
His performances through the campaign have seen him train across the road on multiple occasions and he also scored a stunning strike for the first-team in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Millwall.
He featured in the first-team matchday squad for the first time against Nottingham Forest at the end of March. In late April 2024, Mathurin scored his 10th goal of the season for the U21s against his former side Spurs in a 5-0 drubbing.
In the final of the Premier League International Cup at Selhurst Park, Mathurin combined well with Justin Devenny before setting up Franco Umeh for the winning goal against PSV Eindhoven.
He finished his first season in red and blue with 38 appearances in all competitions for the U21s, along with 11 goals and 14 assists.
In September 2024, Mathurin joined Hartlepool United on a half-season loan. He made nine appearances in total for Hartlepool, notching one assist, before returning to south London in January.
