## Annabel Blanchard

> Blanchard joined Palace in 2022 off the back of a remarkable season with Blackburn Rovers in which she earned both Coaches' and Supporters' Player of the Season, and has since grown into one of English football's most exciting playmakers.

Blanchard is a young, two-footed forward capable of playing across the front line or, more regularly, as a No. 10.

Blanchard began her career aged just 16 with Liverpool, but started her time with the England youth setup the year before, and has represented the national side from Under-17-Under-19 levels.

After leaving Liverpool she joined Leicester City and then Blackburn Rovers, with whom she finished joint-top goalscorer in 21/22.

Blanchard then joined Palace in the summer of 2022 and made a strong start in South London, with four goals in 22 Championship appearances in her maiden campaign.

In 2023/24, Blanchard's brilliance shone as Palace Women claimed promotion from the Championship, the forward scoring 11 times in just 19 league games including clinical hat-tricks against both Durham and London City Lionesses.

Such form led to Blanchard not only winning both the Championship Goal and Player of the Month awards in September – as well as a nomination for the latter for November – but also the club's Player of the Month awards for October and March to boot.

At the start of Palace's first-ever top-flight season, Blanchard became our inaugural Women's Super League goalscorer, netting a brace in our first win against Leicester City – 2-0 at the King Power Stadium – in October 2024.

### **What's happening on Matchday?**

In line with the wider Palace for All commitment, there will be a range of giveaways and community-focused entertainment throughout the day. Giveaway prizes include:

- Palace for All wristbands
- Palace for All string bags

The [Women of SE25](https://www.instagram.com/womenofse25/) will have their own station in the Fanzone where they will hand out song sheets so you can follow along with the chants, as well as Palace for All wristbands and Palace for All string bags.

They will also have QR codes where you can follow their Instagram page, join their WhatsApp group, and find out more about the supporters group.

In recognition of Black History Month, Crystal Palace, in collaboration with The FA and Surrey FA, launched an exhibition on the 24th October titled '**Celebrating Black Legacy in British Football'**, in an event at Selhurst Park.

Celebrating Black Legacy in British Football was created to showcase a number of pioneers who shaped the game and their wider impact on society, with a particular focus on South London and Surrey. 

The exhibition aims to shine a light on the achievements of Black football pioneers, share their journeys with our communities, and encourage people to think about the foundations today’s players and society are built on.

After initially being displayed at Palace’s Academy, and following a successful launch event at Selhurst - the exhibition will be displayed in the Selhurst Park Fanzone for Palace v Brentford on the 1st November and in the VBS Fanzone for Palace Women v Sheffield United on the 9th November.

It will then be displayed across local grassroots clubs, allowing people across South London and Surrey to learn from and connect with this history.

Come visit the exhibition in our Fanzone to read about Palace players past and present, from Wilfried Zaha to Allyson Swaby, as well other Black British sporting icons that helped pave the way for the next generation.

Not to be outdone, Palace's own number nine, Elise Hughes, opened the scoring for Wales in their thrilling match against Poland at Rodney Parade.
