With 16 minutes on the clock, Howat played a quick one-two with Ashleigh Weerden from a corner.
The Scotland international took aim and fired her effort over the Ipswich goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
In a match with few clear cut chances for either side, Howat's goal earned Palace their 11th win in 13 games.
Howat was the standout choice for yesterday's vote, winning with 41.5%.
In second-place was debutant Lucy Newell, who got 12.9% of the vote, whilst Ashleigh Weerden came third with 8.8%.
