Palace in Detroit – Everything you need to know

Following Wednesday's game against Millonarios, Crystal Palace are set to continue their pre-season tour in Detroit, Michigan from midweek with an exciting match-up with UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla.

But, as with their busy programme in Chicago, it’s not just matchday itself that supporters have to look forward to – a range of other celebratory events will take place across the city for everybody to enjoy.

Palace’s game against Sevilla kicks off at 19:00 EDT local time on Sunday 30th July / 00:00 BST Monday UK time at Comerica Park, with tickets available to purchase here. The game will also be streamed live worldwide on Palace TV+.

But before that, get your diaries ready: here’s everything you need to know about Palace’s trip to Detroit…

Thursday, 27th July

Travel time

After the exciting prospect of facing Colombian champions Millonarios FC for The Chicago Nations Cup the night before, Palace’s players will spend Thursday recuperating and travelling to Detroit, ‘The Motor City’, for the second half of their pre-season tour.

Friday, 28th July

Preparation day

Palace’s players and staff will undertake their first training sessions in Detroit in the build-up to Sunday’s game, as well as a variety of other commitments across the city.

Saturday, 29th July

Open training – 09:30 EDT local time

Just as in Chicago, supporters in Detroit are also invited to watch a Crystal Palace training session ahead of Sunday’s huge game!

The session will take place at Oakland University on Saturday, 29th July between 09:30 and 11:00 EDT local time, a day before Roy Hodgson’s Palace team take on UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla at Comerica Park.

Supporters will also have the opportunity to meet ‘Challenger’, the legendary American bald eagle, who is regarded as the most famous of his kind. Challenger went on to became the first bald eagle in U.S. history, trained to free-fly into major sports stadiums, and flew at hundreds of events between 1995-2017.

The session is available to supporters for free, but they must book a ticket and register their details in advance by clicking here. Please note that as part of the booking process you will be required to enter your card details to claim tickets, but you will not be charged.

Supporters should note that filming and photography will take place during Open Training. Any supporters not wishing to be captured should make themselves known to a member of staff on the day.

Supporters attending the event at Oakland University should park in the P29 parking garage or the P26 parking lot (indicated on the map below). The entrance to the field is near the rear stairwell of the parking garage.

Please note that seating for supporters will be limited. Visitors can bring lawn chairs or blankets if desired.

Previous night party – 19:00 EDT

Tour is the perfect opportunity to bring our global fanbase together – and the evening prior to our match with Sevilla, our supporters’ groups, including Detroit Eagles, will be doing just that.

Join fellow Crystal Palace fans at the Detroit City Clubhouse (3401 E Lafayette St, Detroit, MI 48207) from 19:00 to 00:30 for a ‘previous night party’.

The event includes a viewing party for Detroit City’s away game at Oakland Roots, which kicks off at 22:00.

Sunday, 30th July

Pre-match tailgate party – 14:00 EDT

Palace and Sevilla team up, in collaboration with 313 Presents, to deliver the ultimate pre-match fan experience: a traditional Stateside tailgating party!

The tailgate will be held on Columbia Street, a pedestrian-only street, between 14:00 EDT to 18:00 – just yards away from Comerica Park, where the game will be held.

The party will have something for everyone, including the chance to:

Listen to a live DJ mix each team’s favourite songs
Meet Challenger, a world-famous American Bald Eagle
Meet Crystal Palace legend Mark Bright
Experience food and drink-themed specials
Take photos with the Motor City Cup, the trophy for which Palace and Sevilla are playing
Win prizes ranging from tickets to team memorabilia

When the party wraps up, fans can then walk to the bottom of Columbia Street to witness the Eagles take on UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla – with tickets for the match available to purchase here.

Matchday: Palace v Sevilla – 19:00 EDT

What a way to round off a pre-season tour: the mouth-watering prospect of a first-ever clash with seven-time UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla.

Palace have never faced the Andalusian side before but come up against a talented team well-versed in conquering European opposition: no other club can top their total of seven UEFA Cups/Europa Leagues.

Their most recent came last season, beating Manchester United and Juventus en route to the final, where they dispatched Jose Mourinho’s Roma in Budapest.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 19:00 EDT local time / 00:00 BST Monday UK time; please click here to view tickets. Palace fans will be sat in sections 119-121 (as will be marked on Ticketmaster), with prices for these sections $35 USD and $45 USD.

For those watching on at home, the match will also be broadcast LIVE on Palace TV+.

And then...

Following the game, Palace return to the United Kingdom to prepare for one final pre-season test: the mouth-watering prospect of a friendly against Olympique Lyonnais at Selhurst Park on Saturday, 5th August. Find out how to book tickets here.
