Paddy McCarthy's under 18 side came from behind to take a share of the points in a 2-2 draw on Saturday morning at Ipswich Town.

The Palace youngsters took the lead after just 10 minutes when captain, James Daly, raced clear of the home defence and confidently slotted the ball into the net past Town goalkeeper, Mitchell Ware.

The scores were soon level as Jack Lankester made the most of a loose ball in the penalty area as his first time shot made it 1-1 just three minutes after Daly's opener.

Both sides had chances to add to the goal tally before the break with Ben Knight and Lankester being denied by the woodwork for the home side and David Boateng had a good opportunity after a fine run but the half time whistle came with the game all square.

Former Eagles striker, Alan Lee, now in charge of Town's under 18s saw his side take the lead just past the hour mark. Kian Ronan received a fine pass and put the home side ahead with a low drive from the right side of the penalty box into the corner of the net.

As earlier in the game it was not long before an advantage was cancelled out. With twenty minutes of the game remaining Joseph Hungbo (pictured above) fired home a superb free kick into the roof of the net from 20 yards out, giving the 'keeper no chance with a fine strike.

The 18 year old's goal proved to be the final one in a closely fought contest and now the squad prepare for next Saturday's away game against Charlton at their training ground, kick-off 11am.
