There was only one goal to separate Crystal Palace Women and Sunderland Ladies, and that came from Molly Sharpe in the 60th-minute, sealing victory for the Eagles.
The home side started well and nearly opened the scoring through Emma Kelly, however her shot just went wide of the post.
Both teams could have taken the lead late into the first-half: Sunderland’s Emily Scarr’s shot bounced off the post and led to a Palace counter-attack, with Millie Farrow also hitting the post from her effort.
The half-time whistle blew and both sides went into the second-half balanced, with all to play for after the break.
Into the second-half, the home side got the ball in the back of the net through Maria Farrugia, however the goal was disallowed as the flag was raised for offside.
The Eagles continued to push and eventually took the lead through Sharpe, when Aimee Everett slotted the ball through to her to smash past the Sunderland 'keeper.
The home side had chances to level the game through two late opportunities from Scarr, however no one could convert.
The full-time whistle blew after six minutes of added time, giving the Eagles an all-important win and three points, moving them to fifth in the Women’s Championship.
The south Londoners are back in action this Sunday, looking to continue their winning run as they face Coventry at Hayes Lane.
