An entertaining contest saw both sides enjoy plenty of shooting opportunities and strike the woodwork, with Palace twice hitting the outside of the goal through Eddie Nketiah and Ebere Eze's long-range efforts.
But Chris Wood's second-half volley settled a closely-fought contest, the only goal of the game, as Palace were unable to find a way past Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels in response.
